Clotilda: The Exhibition at the Africatown Heritage House
Clotilda: The Exhibition covers the story of the Clotilda with a special focus on the people of the story – their individuality, their perseverance and the extraordinary community they established. The exhibition tells the story of the 110 remarkable men, women and children, from their West African beginnings, to their enslavement, to their settlement of Africatown and finally, the discovery of the sunken schooner, all through a combination of interpretive text panels, documents and artifacts.

Mobile Carnival Museum
One of a kind...Explore over 300 years of Mardi Gras history through elaborate exhibits and displays housed in a grand 1872 mansion. Fourteen galleries highlight both the street party and royal sides of Mardi Gras. View intricate designs and artistry of majestic crowns, scepters and royal robes of Carnival royalty. Discover the art of costume design and float construction. Hop on a float and experience riding in a parade. Browse historical photographs and take pictures of yourself as a monarch. Immerse yourself in the rich traditions of Mardi Gras by taking a docent led tour or an audio self guided tour.

Richards-DAR House Museum

This ornate Italianate mansion is beautiful by day, but at night, the DAR House is rumored to come alive with echoes of the past. Staff and guests alike have reported footsteps in empty halls, mysterious whispers and the faint sounds of children’s laughter in long-abandoned rooms. Its grand halls and sweeping staircases might charm visitors, but they may also give you chills.

The Historic Oakleigh House Museum

As one of Mobile’s oldest surviving homes, Oakleigh Mansion holds centuries of stories about its residents, some of whom may still be there. Visitors have reported spotting a woman in an antebellum dress peering from the parlor, poltergeist-like activities and experiencing sudden chills while touring the historic rooms. With its creaking floors and candlelit history, Oakleigh is as haunting as it is beautiful.

The Exploreum Science Center features interactive exhibits, giant screen films, and hands-on programming designed to spark curiosity and inspire a love of science. It serves as a hub of science literacy for Mobile and the greater Gulf Coast region.
Mobile Medical Museum
Mobile Museum of Art
Mobile Museum of Art has evolved into the only accredited art museum in South Alabama, with a collection of over 6,400 artworks comprised of paintings, sculpture, decorative arts, works on paper, and crafts. Its original facility of 14,000 sq. feet, located in the city’s largest green space of Langan Park, was expanded with two major capital campaigns. The last expansion of the Museum brought the space to its current size of 95,000 sq. feet. Today, the art museum continues to evolve in its service to the community, achieved through its programs, education, exhibitions, and outreach. The museum’s outreach activities include on-site classes, a partnership with the Salvation Army’s Family Haven, as well as a “Pop-Up Museum” installation in downtown Mobile. The Art Museum maintains a schedule of rotating, special exhibitions as well as collection exhibitions, including work by regional artists, as well as exhibitions featuring work by nationally and internationally recognized artists.

Historic Avenue Cultural Center
The Historic Avenue Cultural Center celebrates the rich history and diverse heritage of the local community. The center is dedicated to preserving and promoting the cultural and historical legacy of Mobile's Dr Martin L King Jr Dr., which was previously named Davis Avenue.
Archaeology Museum, University Of South Alabama
The Archaeology Museum showcases 12,000 years of prehistory and history in southern Alabama and the Gulf Coast. Dig into the past, take in what lies below an archaeological investigation and glimpse into the ways of life of Native American Archaic and Woodland cultures, mound-building Mississippian peoples, early French settlers and an African-American family after the Civil War.

History Museum of Mobile & Colonial Fort Conde
The History Museum of Mobile is where Mobile’s story begins. Two floors of permanent exhibits explore Mobile’s history from the pre-colonial past to the present, with special highlights of Mardi Gras, shipbuilding, and daily life along the Mobile Bay. A children’s Discovery Room brings French Colonial Mobile to life for our youngest visitors, and special, traveling exhibitions are often on view, as well. Admission to Colonial Fort Conde is included. Built on the same site of its 1723 predecessor, this partial reconstruction of Fort Condé offers visitors the chance to learn about Mobile’s journey from its beginnings as a French colonial settlement to its early years as an American territory. Walk through the exhibits to see artifacts and recovered archaeological pieces of Mobile’s colonial past. Or, tread atop the fort walls to see unmatched views of Mobile’s skyline. Visitors can also enjoy a number of living history events held throughout the year.

National Maritime Museum of the Gulf

Discover the rich legacy of the Gulf Coast at the National Maritime Museum of the Gulf. Dive into the region’s culture through exhibits dedicated to its industries, global influence, music and mouthwatering cuisine. The National Maritime Museum of the Gulf will also be the home of an immersive exhibit and statue dedicated to Buffett’s legacy, which will open in fall 2026. It’s no wonder Jimmy Buffett was inspired to sing about our coastal paradise time and time again.

Conde-Charlotte Museum
The Condé-Charlotte Museum is Mobile's oldest historic home museum, where visitors can explore how citizens lived throughout the last 300 years during each country’s reign over the area. The variety and authenticity of the antique furnishings in the museum house reflect Mobile’s history under six flags: French, British, Spanish, American, Republic of Alabama and Confederate. In 1850 Jonathan Kirkbride and his wife, Elizabeth, renovated what is now known as the Condé-Charlotte Museum, the site of Mobile’s first courthouse and jail built 30 years earlier.

USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park

USS ALABAMA Battleship Memorial Park is home to the USS ALABAMA, USS DRUM, and aircraft that adorned the air during various wars and conflicts. Inside the Aircraft Pavilion, visitors can find the Grumman Goose and Boeing Stearman, two aircraft that Jimmy Buffett donated in 2022.
