Known for its rich history and well-preserved architecture, the Oakleigh Garden Historic District (known locally as OGD) is a picturesque neighborhood near downtown. Established in the early 19th century, one of the notable features of OGD is its collection of historic homes. These homes showcase various architectural styles and influences on Mobile’s culture, including Greek Revival, Italianate and Victorian. Wintzell's is designated by national and regional publications as a dining landmark. Lively, casual and unmistakably Southern, they serve oysters shucked fresh from their oyster bar, as they say, "fried, stewed and nude."
